Why I’ve signed up to the vaccine trials

The rise in Covid cases we’re seeing in Hounslow and in many parts of London, while not as large as other parts of the country that have gone into local lockdown, is a reminder that sadly life may never return to normal until we have a vaccine that is effective for all people.

For that, the NHS needs vaccine trial volunteers from diverse backgrounds. Unfortunately, while 112,000 people have signed up for trials, only three per cent are from Asian backgrounds.

When I read this, I immediately signed up to volunteer for vaccine trials and I would urge all those who are able from our large Asian communities across Hounslow and the rest of London to do the same. The more of us who come forward, the more lives we’ll save.
